چکیده
To study the effects of anisotropy and heterogeneity on shale failure mode tensile strength, Brazilian splitting tests were performed from both directions bedding layer thickness. Layers containing different loading angles thicknesses obtained separately. The results show that, at 0° 90° angles, cracks grow “linearly”; 15°, have “arc type” growth; 30°–75°, shale-splitting displays “broken line” crack propagation. strength to exhibits an increasing trend. Water has a significant softening effect shale—the higher water content, lower strength. In addition, 3DEC numerical simulation was used simulate tests, establishing specimen particles with random blocks. disc, uneven parallel uniform set up generate simulated stress-displacement curves, layering cleavage analyzed mesoscopic perspective. found be under same conditions, which is consistent experimental results. By comparing results, macro- mesoperspectives, growth affected by bedding, displaying process disorder order. This great significance for further exploration mechanical properties failure.

Numerical study of bending test on compacted clay by Discrete Element Method: tensile strength determination
The study of the tensile behaviour of clay is one of the topics which requires a specific lighting especially when one pays a close attention to the pathology of work built with or on clays subjected to significant tensile forces. Therefore, failure or damage of clay, under specific conditions, can be related to tensile stress limit and not to shear stress limit. It is the case of compacted cla...
متن کاملEFFECTS OF TENSILE STRENGTH ON FATIGUE BEHAVIOR AND NOTCH SENSITIVITY OF TI-6AL-4V
In this research, rotating bending fatigue test at minimum to maximum stress ratio of R=-1 was used for investigating the fatigue behavior of Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Both smooth and notched specimens, with elastic concentration factor, kt, of approximately 3.6 and 4.1 were used for this purpose. In addition, the effect of variation in ultimate tensile strength, UTS, on the fatigue behavior of this allo...
متن کاملEffects of Hair Follicle Stem Cells on Partial-Thickness Burn Wound Healing and Tensile Strength
Background: The recent improvements in wound healing have led to new strategies in regenerative medicine. Burn wound healing is an important issue in skin regeneration and has multiple indications for stem cell therapy. Hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs) are a highly promising source of stem cells for healing use, as these cells are accessible, active and pluripotent adult stem cells. Methods: HF...
متن کاملthe effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)
cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
